Bees in the woods

Bees and wasps fulfil important roles in ecosystem processes and ecosystem service provision, e.g.serving as spollinators and potentially acting as natural enemies of insect pests. Jason Tylianakis looked at changes in the diversity of bee and wasp communities in a agro-forest mosaic in Southern Ecuador (including rice, pasture, coffee agroforests and native forest fragments) detecting seasonal trends. He is now collaborating with BIOFRAG adding an important new functional group to our datasets to be tested within the BIOFRAG index context.
